How much protein?

How much protein do you need? The amount of protein you need for muscle growth varies depending on several factors, such as your body weight, training intensity, training goals, and individual metabolism. There is no one-size-fits-all answer that applies to everyone, but there are some guidelines you can follow.

In general, it is recommended to consume about 0.8 to 1.2 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day. This is the general guideline for the general population. However, if you actively train to build muscle, your protein needs may be higher.

For people focused on muscle growth and strength training, a higher protein intake is usually recommended, somewhere between 1.4 to 2.2 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day. Some research suggests that higher protein levels may contribute to better results in muscle building and post-workout recovery.

So, how much protein do we need? It is important to note that an excess of protein consumption does not bring any additional benefits. It is advisable to spread your protein intake evenly throughout the day and combine it with a balanced diet that also includes carbohydrates, healthy fats and enough calories to meet your energy needs.
